Well, I ♥ Alice ♥ I is two things really. It’s a poke or a prod at the form and structure of documentary theatre, and it’s a love story. I really wanted to play with this form, I wanted to create characters and a story that were as compelling and honest as ‘real life people,’ and I wanted to represent women of a certain age in love. I feel gay woman, particularly older gay women are really under represented on stage and screen.

Amy Conroy is the artistic director and founder of HotForTheatre; I ♥ Alice ♥ I is her first play, and was HotForTheatre’s debut show. It premiered in ABSOLUT Fringe 2010.
